BARA, 31 July: After formation of a committee of local elders to stop drug smuggling through women in Bar Kambarkhel area of Bara sub-division in Khyber Agency, another committee has been formed to stop this practice in Malikdinkhel area.

A Jirga in this regard was held in Malikdinkhel area on Saturday which was presided over by former federal minister Hameedullah Jan Afridi. The Jirga was attended by local elders and other people in large number.

The Jirga decided that the whole Malikdinkhel tribe will join hands to curb drug smuggling in the area. It decided that those found involved in drug smuggling will face fine of Rs2.5 million and they will be expelled from the area and their houses will be demolished.

Local elders Haji Daulat Khan and Haji Daud Khan told TNN that some elements are involved in defaming the women of the area by indulging in drug smuggling through women. They said the committee to curb drug smuggling has been formed in great interest of the tribe.

“We have taken this decision to protect the honour of our women and ensure eradication of the menace of drug smuggling from our area,” Haji Daulat Khan said.

Haji Daud Khan said this decision was inevitable to curb drug smuggling.

“It will raise the honour of our tribe,” he said.
