PESHAWAR, 11 June: An anti-terrorism court in Bahawalpur district of Punjab has awarded death sentence to a person for posting blasphemous content on social media.

The accused Taimoor Raza faced allegations that he posted blasphemous content against Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), Sahaba Karam and Azwaj-e-Mutaharat on Facebook for which he was arrested last year. The government lawyer said the accused was awarded death sentence after allegations against him were proved.

It is first time that death sentence has been awarded to a person for posting blasphemous content on the social media.
