MIRANSHAH: A target killing incident happened in Mir Ali Bazaar in North Waziristan tribal district on Thursday.
Police said a local person, Malik Nafees Haiderkhel was busy in routine shopping in Mir Ali Bazaar in the morning when unidentified armed men came on a motorcycle and opened fire on him, leaving him dead on the spot.
The assailants escaped from the scene after committing the crime. Police shifted the body to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Mir Ali for legal formalities. Police have initiated investigation into the target killing incident.
On October 31, three people lost their lives and six others were injured in separate incidents in North Waziristan.
TNN correspondent reported that one person was killed and five others sustained injuries in firing between two rival groups in Razmak Bazaar. Local sources said persons of one group were in the bazaar with a guest when people from the rival group arrived there in a vehicle and opened fire on them. The guest, Rahat Shah, who had come from Lakki Marwat, was killed in the firing, while two persons from the rival group and four passers-by sustained injuries as both sides traded fire. Razmak Police said the incident was the outcome of old enmity.
Meanwhile, two persons lost their lives after falling into a 50-foot deep well in Khushali village of Mir Ali tehsil.
Payment of compensation
The district administration of North Waziristan tribal district has made payment of compensation to the people who suffered damages in natural calamities in the area.
A ceremony in this regard was organised at the Jirga Hall of Miranshah, the main town of North Waziristan, on Thursday. Deputy Commissioner Shahid Ali Khan and Additional Assistant Commissioner Miranshah Umar Khitab on the occasion distributed cheques among the affected people. The deputy commissioner said compensation to the rest of affectees will be made after completion of scrutiny.
Earlier, on October 31, the district administration had also distributed compensation cheques among the people affected due to natural calamities.
The affected persons thanked the government for payment of compensation. They hoped that the processing will be accelerated to compensate all the affected persons without further delay.
