MARDAN, 27 September: Work on several uplift projects has been halted after the provincial government stopped issuance of development to Mardan district government.
The district government on Wednesday asked the provincial government to release development fund immediately so that work could resumed and timely completed. The demand was made at district government session where the members demanded to appoint brother of deceased tehsildar Fawad Ali Shah’s brother as tehsildar instead of awarding him middle. Tehsildar Fawad Ali Shah laid his life in a blast in Bajuar agency few days ago.
District Nazim Himayatullah Mayar said that the district government had approved a budget to the tune Rs9.90 billion for the current financial year.
He said that Rs485 million was developmental budget, adding that the provincial government last year were making lame excuses in issuance of funds due to which only 25 percent budget was released to the district government.
He said that first installment was yet to be released due to which work on all uplift projects have been halted and asked the provincial government to release its share as soon as possible.
