MARDAN: The District Education Department on Monday awarded 101 female teachers with cash prizes for showing brilliant performance since last three years.

The cash prizes were given away by District Education Officer Samina Naz at a ceremony here at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Shah Dhand.

She distributed cash prizes worth Rs8.5 million among teachers of 13 government schools. The education officer said the awarded teachers had shown performance for third consecutive years in terms of attendance and students’ marks.

He said that the cash prizes were being given since last three years as teachers of five schools were awarded on the first year.

She said that Mardan stood third across the province for showing good results in annual examinations.

The official thanked Education Minister Atif Khan for taking this initiative to encourage teachers and said that due to such steps standard of education has been improved in government run schools.
