Toy weapons: Mardan police launched operation against toy guns

MARDAN: The District administration has conducted raids on different shops in the city to implement the order of ban on the toy weapons and crackers in the district ahead Eidul Fiter, on Thursday.

The district administration has already imposed section 144 on toy weapons and crackers in order to curb the culture of violence. The Station House Officer (SHP) of Hoti Police Station, Muqadam Khan has launched operation and toys imitating guns and crackers.

While displaying the illegal recoveries to media, the SHO said that the raids were conducted on two godown in Shaheedano Bazaar and recovered toys imitating Kalashnikov, pistols as well as crackers. The SHO said that the godowns were owned by Wisal and Riaz. Police has said that registered cases against them under the relevant sections of law.

The police forces have requested the parents to help the police and keep their children away from toy guns to curb the culture of violence in society. As research has proved that children minds are taking impressions from the games they are involved in therefore, parents were advised to protect children from toy guns.

Commissioner Malakand bans toy guns, crackers

PESHAWAR: Commissioner Malakand has imposed a ban on toy guns, crackers under Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) section 144 for a period of thirty days. The ban has also been imposed on the production and transportation of toy weapons and crackers ahead of Eidul Fiter.

“The sale of toy guns and crackers records an increase before and during Eid every year. Thousands of children can be seen brandishing toy guns, which can fire plastic bullets similar to the real guns. These (guns) cause not only injuries to people but also promote culture violence among children, commissioner Malakand said.

He maintained that some of these toy guns look like real Kalashnikovs and other automatic weapons and attract children to real guns. All Deputy Commissioners of the concern districts have notified the ban to guns in their respective districts.
