NOWSHERA, 31 May: The Awami National Party (ANP) central general secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain has been arrested on charges of involvement in the murder of a Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) activist in Nowshera.

A PTI activist was killed in firing on a rally of the party in Nowshera yesterday. Mr Iftikhar said the PTI activist died from the firing of his own party men.

On the other hand, police have also registered a case against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and his guards over violence in a polling station in Dera Ismail Khan. According to local sources, Mr Gandapur tried to forcibly take away ballot box from Ratta Kulachi and his guards also opened aerial firing to scare opponents.
