PESHAWAR, 14 August: Mobile phone services have been suspended in 50 cities of the country, including Peshawar, as part of security measures for Independence Day celebrations.

The mobile phone services will be restored at 2:00pm. The Ministry of Interior had directed the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to block the mobile services as part of security arrangements.

In the past as well, mobile phone services used to be suspended on important occasions such as Pakistan Day, Independence Day and Ashura in order to maintain foolproof security arrangements and ward off any incident of terrorism.
