PARACHINAR, 27 September: Mobile phone service will remain suspended in Kurram Agency today (Wednesday) as part of security measures on the occasion of Muharramul Haram.
Political Agent Baseer Khan said mobile phone service will remain suspended from 6:00pm to 12:00 midnight. He said pillion riding has also been banned in Kurram Agency during Muharram as part of security measures. He said the security forces personnel have been deployed at sensitive areas in Kurram to keep an eye on the situation. The Pak-Afghan border has also been closed for all kinds of traffic.
A committee of local elders has also been set up which will work for promoting peace in the area. The political agent said Majalis have been organised at 194 imambargahs in Kurram Agency which will be provided full security. He said personnel of the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps, Levies and Khassadars have been deployed on the routes of mourning processions and near imambargahs. He said Thal-Parachinar road will also be closed for all kinds of traffic on 10 Muharram.
Crisis management centres have also been set up in Parachinar and Sadda to meet any emergency situation, while over a hundred mobile teams will also perform duties in Kurram.
