PESHAWAR: Transgender persons in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will soon get the facility of mobile van for coronavirus vaccination.

A delegation of a non-governmental organisation met focal person of corona vaccination Sikander Shah in Peshawar on Monday during which the official made this assurance. The focal person was told that women and transgender persons in KP, who did not possess computerised national identity cards (CNICs), were facing problems with corona vaccination. He was informed that the Sindh government had already taken the initiative to vaccinate transgender persons not having CNICs.

It was noted that transgender persons are also facing the threat of coronavirus and they also deserve special facilities for vaccination. It was demanded that arrangements be made for transgender persons to get vaccination against corona.

The Health Department official assured to take steps for such arrangement soon. The delegation members thanked the official for his assurance.

Swat gets first women police station

First time in the history of Malakand Division, a women police station has been established in Swat district to resolve issues faced by women on priority basis.

On the directives of Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, who also hails from Swat, first women police station, two more police stations and eight check posts have been established for maintenance of law and order and protection of local and outsider tourists.

All the staff members of the women police station including the station house officer (SHO) would be women to resolve various issues being faced by women. Two more police stations to be setup include Police Station Fatihpur and Police Station Athror.

Eight check posts include Balat check post Cheryal Police Station, check post Parioh, Cheryal Police Station , check post Mandor, Matta Police Station, check post Bayakand, Matta Police Station, check post Gabeen Jabba, Kalakot Police Station, check post Gujjar Gabryal, check post Adhygram, Police Station Rahimabad, and check post Qalagay, Kabal Police Station.

District Police Officer (DPO) Dilawar Khan Bangash has provided essential staff, equipment, arms and ammunition to these police stations and check posts. Besides, security cameras would be installed in Swat under the Safe City Project. He said that maintenance of law and order and protection of citizens is top priority.
