MARDAN: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department has launched a mobile van service to track patients suffering from tuberculosis (TB) in different districts. A team of medical experts comprising District Health Officer Dr Ayub, TB Health Programme Director Dr Maqsood is visiting different areas in Mardan and carrying TB tests on the spot.
The van that is equipped with all kinds of facilities including x-ray machines and other equipment that are needed to diagnose TB. The van would also visit areas in Charsadda and Haripur where most people could not visit TB centers for treatment due to unawareness
Dr Maqsood said that there were 70000 registered patients in the province while 20,000 patients do not want to register themselves due to fear of social isolation and unawareness.
He added that TB was a curable disease and urged the people to visit TB centers so that this disease could be wiped out once and for all.
The physician hoped that they would treat 75000 patients by 2025 and make Pakistan TB free by 2035.
