Mother of DI Khan incident victim girl moves PHC for justice

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, 21 November: The mother of the Dera Ismail Khan stripping incident victim girl has filed an application in the Peshawar High Court (PHC) for justice.

The mother of Sharifa Bibi said in her petition that the provincial government and police have not provided justice to the family and they are facing threats. The petition mentioned all details about the incident and prayed the court to monitor the investigation into the case.

Sharifa Bibi’s mother told the court that her son was recently accused of sending a gift of a mobile phone to a girl in Garamat area after which a local Jirga imposed Rs500,000 fine on the family. She said the fine was later reduced to Rs300,000 which was paid by their family. She said despite the Jirga decision, the people from rival family stopped her daughter Sharifa Bibi when she was bringing water to home, tore her clothes and paraded her naked in the streets. She said the rival family also made videos of her daughter in that condition.

She said she is not satisfied with the investigation in the case so far and called upon the court to provide justice to her daughter.
