Pakistan fast bowler Muhammad Irfan. – Muhammad Irfan

PESHAWAR, 10 January: Pakistan fast bowler Muhammad Irfan has returned to Pakistan from Australia due to death of his mother.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said Junaid Khan has been included in the Pakistan one-day squad in place of Irfan. However, it said, Junaid will not be able to arrive for the first match on 13 January.

The PCB selection committee was facing criticism for not including Junaid Khan in the squad despite his good performance in the Bangladesh Premier League. Junaid Khan was also very disappointed over not being considered for the team and he was also reportedly considering a move to another country to continue his cricket career.

Pakistan will play five one-day matches against Australia in the series. Australia have won the Test series 3-0 and have also been considered favourites to win the limited overs series as well.
