PESHAWAR, 22 September: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee on Thursday announced that the moon of Muharramul Haram has been sighted in the country and Ashura would be observed on Sunday 1 October.

The meeting was held at the Met Office in Karachi on Thursday evening. The sighting of moon will mark the beginning of new Hijri year of Islamic calendar 1439 from today (Friday).

The new Islamic year moon has already been sighted in Gulf, European and many other countries.
