BUNER: The National Rural Support Programme (NRSP) organised a Mushaira (poetic symposium) in Chagharzai area of Buner on Thursday with the theme of impact of climate change.
The Mushaira was organised at the Hujra (male guest house) of Meraj Khan in Baba Faiza village. Deputy Commissioner Buner Shafiullah, eminent poets Zafar Ali Naz, Muhammad Naeem and other notables attended the function.
On the occasion, 23 young poets presented attractive poetry on the impact of climate change which was greatly appreciated by the participants. Afzal Ihsas took first position in the competition, Tajmir Ulfat got second position and Baseer Chagharzai took third position.
Zafar Ali while speaking on the occasion appreciated the efforts of the NRSP for organising the Mushaira on a very important topic. He said it is first time that a literary gathering on such an important issue has been organised in Buner. He praised the NRSP for arranging healthy programmes for education and wellbeing of the people and creating awareness among them about environmental degradation and its impact. He hoped that the event will prove helpful in creating awareness among the people about the hazards of pollution and they will try to keep the area around them clean for a healthy environment.
Zafar Ali said it was very encouraging that the young poets mentioned the natural beauties our land in their poetry. He said the nature and climate occupies an important place in our life and its importance cannot be overlooked.
At the end of the function, the guests distributed prizes among the poets.
