ISLAMABAD, 30 October : Member of National Assembly (MNA) Haji Shajee Gul from Khyber Agency on Friday said that FATA reforms bill that proposes merger of FATA into province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will soon be approved from National Assembly.

While talking to TNN in Islamabad, he said that tribal people had become aware of their basic rights and demand for the provision of constitutional rights and freedom being  enjoyed by the citizen of rest of the country.

He added that giving equal rights to the dwellers of FATA was not possible without abolishing the black law of Frontier Crime Regulations (FCR). He questioned the existence of British enacted FCR saying the notorious colonial law had been eliminated from the entire sub-continent but not  from FATA.  “Look at those areas where this law was abolished have developed and progressed well. But we’re still living in that old colonial period under FCR” he said.

To garner more support for the FATA reforms bill, he said” I have convened a Jirga of tribal MNAs, Senators and elders at my male guesthouse in Jamrud on Sunday to chalk out a strategy for FATA reforms movement.
