NAB approves inquiry into Billion Tree Tsunami

PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to investigate the reports of alleged corruption in the Billion Tree Tsunami project of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.

Decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the NAB at its headquarters in Islamabad chaired by Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal on Monday. The meeting also decided to hold inquiry into the alleged illegal appointment of Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmed by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and officials of the Establishment Division.

The meeting also reviewed progress of the inquiries against illegal private cooperative housing societies in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Chairman NAB Justice Javed Iqbal directed the Director General NAB Rawalpindi to ensure arrest of the people involved in the scam and return of the looted money. He advised the people to invest in any private housing society only after thorough scrutiny.
