PESHAWAR, 4 August: National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced online system of applying for fresh Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) and renewal of expired cards.

Addressing a gathering held in connection with the launching of new system yesterday, Federal Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said now people can apply for fresh CNICs and of expired cards online. The applicants would get their cards within 10 days. The fee for the CNICs can also be deposited online through credit and debit cards and the status of the process of cards can also be checked online, the federal minister went on to inform.

A number of people the TNN interviewed in Cantt area lauded the online system.

“NADRA deserves appreciation for launching an online system of getting fresh and renewable CNICs. NADRA offices do not exist in each and every city and most of the applicants, especially elderly people, handicapped and ailing persons and women, cannot easily come to the big cities to for CNICs

“This is a very good service. People can apply for CNICs from their homes, offices and wherever they have internet facility.”
