PESHAWAR, 20 May: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has reached Turkmenistan on a two-day official visit today.

Turkmenistan Minister for Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov received the prime minster at Ashgabat airport. He called on Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow. During the meeting Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan wants to improve economic ties between the two countries.

The Turkmen president said that both the countries are on the same page vis-à-vis regional peace and stability. He said that both the countries can cooperate in agriculture, communication, telecommunication and other sectors. A number of agreements and memorandums of understanding are expected to be signed between the two countries.

From Turkmenistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is scheduled to leave for another two-day visit to Kirgizstan where he will meet with Kirgiz president. The prime minister’s entourage, besides others, includes Federal Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastgir, Minister for Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Minister for Defence and Water and Power Khwaja Asif and Advisor to PM on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatimi.
