PESHAWAR, 14 November: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased the annual net hydel profit of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from Rs6 billion to Rs18.7 billion.

KP Chief Minister Perviaz Khattak had filed a petition with NEPRA against Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) that the people of KP face increase in electricity prices on a regular basis, while WAPDA purchases electricity from KP on the 23 years old rates. The WAPDA had also filed a case with NEPRA in this regard recently.

The NEPRA has sent a copy of its verdict to the Ministry of Water and Power directing it to give Rs18.7 billion to the KP government in the head of net hydel profit this year. The NEPRA verdict said five percent annual increase will also be given to KP government in net hydel profit.

The provincial government has appreciated the NEPRA verdict terming it a great achievement for the KP people.
