PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mehmood Khan has made it clear that no changes in the provincial cabinet are under consideration.

According to a statement issued from the Chief Minister Secretariat, Mehmood Khan said that there is no truth in the news about changes in the cabinet or taking back any ministry from any minister. He expressed confidence in the performance of tall the ministers.

The chief minister said rumours are circulating in the media that some of the ministers will be removed from the KP cabinet. He said such rumours are based on gossip and had nothing to do with reality.

Mehmood Khan said he is well aware of the performance of all the ministers. He said he has no intensions of taking back the ministry of any cabinet member.

On Thursday, KP Information Minister Shaukat Yousafzai said in a statement that the changes will be announced in the provincial cabinet within eight to 10 days.

Shaukat Yousafzai said Chief Minister Mehmood Khan is a powerful head of the provincial government and he is fully empowered to make all decisions. He said the chief minister is an honest person and he is keeping an eye on the performance of all the ministers in the cabinet.

The minister said Prime Minister Imran Khan fully backs Chief Minister Mehmood Khan and considers his performance better than the chief ministers of other provinces. Shaukat Yousafzai said the chief minister has reviewed performance of all the ministers and changes are likely in the cabinet within 10 days. He said the ministers showing good performance will be retained, while those with unsatisfactory performance will be changed.

A day after Shaukat Yousafzai’s statement, Ajmal Wazir, Adviser to CM on tribal affairs, rejected the assertion and asked media to stop ‘trial’ of provincial ministers.

“No decision has been taken regarding changes in provincial cabinet,” said Ajmal Wazir while talking to media on Friday. “There is no reality in the news about any change in cabinet and the media should stop the trial of ministers,” he said.

After surprising changes in the federal cabinet few days ago, now rumours are rife that such changes will also be made in KP and Punjab. The federal ministers also kept on denying changes in the federal cabinet, but massive changes were made in the end. Political observers said despite denial by the KP leadership, changes cannot be ruled out in the provincial cabinet, as similar thing happened in the federal cabinet just few days ago.
