ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on Tuesday approved not to subject gas consumers to any gas outages during winter this year.

The decision was taken during a meeting wherein secretary Petroleum Division presented the winter gas load management plan and the committee decided that 150-200 mmcfd of regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) will be injected into the system to overcome the gas shortage.

Consumers face gas outages especially in Punjab and Balochistan every winter due to a shortage of gas and the authorities attempt to overcome the shortfall.

The ECC also exempted tandoors from a recent hike in gas prices  and allowed their owners to continue paying their gas bills on previously applicable rates.
