PESHAWAR, 27 August: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced to move court against the decision of Election Commission which has notified Baldev Kumar as returned candidate against the minority seat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.
The seat fell vacant after Adviser to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister for Minority Affairs Sardar Suran Singh was assassinated by unidentified gunmen in district Buner in April this year.
In a statment, PTI spokesman Naeem-ul-Haq has said that Baldev Kumar was in prison and he himself has confessed of killing of Sardar Suran Singh. He added that Baldev’s basic party membership had also been terminated.
PTI had recommended to the Election Commission to remove name of Baldev Kumar from the list of Suran Singh successors and fill the seat with Ravi Kumar, he said.
However, he said that despite their request, the commission notified Baldev Kumar as returned candidate on the vacant minority seat.
Naeem-ul-Haq warned that they would move court against the notification of the Election Commission.
