BANNU, August 22: Elders of North Waziristan Committee staged protest march from Bannu city up to the press club, criticising the political administration of Frontier Region Bannu and long marches of two political parties in the federal capital Islamabad.

“We are here to warn the officials of FATA Secretariat to stop embezzlement in our relief goods,” said one of the speakers.

The protesters blocked the road for some time and chanted slogans against the political administration and the rallies staged by Imran Khan and Dr Tahirul Qadri in Islmabad.

General Secretary of the IDPs committee, Malak Ghulam, told TNN that local administration of Bannu did not pay attention to basic problems of IDPs till date.

“Due to long march in Islamabad, our problems have increased as the attention of the concerned authorities has been diverted to marchers. We want tehsildars of all tehsils in Bannu to facilitate the people, otherwise we will stage protests. The commissioner says that special centres have been set up here but those are overcrowded because we have to keep on waiting for our turn,” he added.
