BANNU, 13 November: The internally displaced persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan Agency residing in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have asked the government not to compel them to return before restoring basic facilities of life in the tribal region.

The displaced people told TNN that there are no hospitals, schools and markets in North Waziristan at present. He said the whole infrastructure of North Waziristan had been destroyed during the military operation.

“Going back to North Waziristan at a time when even basic facilities of life are not available there will not give us any benefit,” a displaced person told TNN.

Another tribesman said schools and hospitals had been destroyed during the operation and it is quite obvious that restoration of these facilities will take several years. He said the necessary facilities for immediate restoration of schools and hospitals in North Waziristan are not available as most of these facilities existed in the far flung areas.

Earlier, KP Governor Sardar Mehhtab Ahmed Khan announced on Thursday that the repatriation process of the IDPs of FATA will be completed by June next year.
