NOWSHERA: Nowshera police suspended 31 police officials including sub-inspectors for having alleged links with criminals and anti-state elements on Thursday.
District police officer, Captain retires Mansoor Aman has directed the concerned officials for further investigation and initiate legal proceedings against them so that they may not go unpunished.
According to police resources, the decision was taken on the recommendation of the internal accountability wing of the police department.
Those suspended includes the Sub-inspector of Raisalpur Police station Gul Akbar Khan, the assistant sub-inspector of Pir Sabaq Police station, Shahid Khan, sub-inspector of Nowshera Police line Khanzeb Khan, Muhrer Akbar Ali, Fayaz Khan, Muhrer Liaqat Ali, traffic warden Hakim Ullah, traffic warden Fahim Khan, among other officials of different police stations of the district.
The police sources said that those suspended also include several police drivers who were found involved in corruption and other criminal activities.
The police officials have expressed that with such steps there will be a clear improvement in the ways of police efforts to serve the people and provide protection. It was further added that it will restore people trust in the police force of the province.
Nowshera man accuses police of torture
Shahnawaz Bashir, a resident of Kaka Sahib area of the district Nowshera, has accused the police officials of torture and illegal confinement on Thursday. Bashir told the media that he has registered an FIR against his brother-in-law over a family matter but the Sub Inspector and Muhrer allegedly arrested him an locked him the Chowki and subjected him to torture.
After the incident was reported, the District Police Office has suspended the sub-inspector Azam Khan and Muhrer Akhtar Ali. The SSP investigation Nowshera, Iftikhar Shah has been directed to start investigation against them and the present the reports in the cases within three days.
The DPO said that the police force is responsible for the protection for lives and properties of the citizens. He added that if the charges against them are proved, strict action will be taken under the law against them.
