Dispute over flag hosting leaves one party worker injured in Landikotal

LANDIKOTAL: One person was critically injured in firing between a man and his nephew over hoisting of flag of election candidates in Khyber Agency on Saturday.

Official sources said the incident happened in Walikhel area of Landikotal tehsil where two close relatives — uncle and nephew — traded fire over the issue of hoisting flags of the candidates taking part in the upcoming general elections. One person was injured in the firing and was taken to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) Peshawar where his condition was stated to be critical.

Several incidents of election-related violence have been reported from different parts of the country during the last few days.

On Friday night, a firing incident was reported from the venue of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Asad Umar’s corner meeting in Islamabad. However, no loss occurred in that incident.
