One killed, five injured in North Waziristan blast

MIRANSHAH: One person lost his life and five others, including three security personnel, sustained injuries in a blast in North Waziristan tribal district on Saturday.

Official sources said the blast took place in a business centre in Muhammadkhel Bazaar of Datta Khel sub-division. Unknown miscreants had planted an improvised explosive device (IED) near a shop which went off with a big bang. The deceased was identified as Rafique. The injured security personnel were identified as Havaldar Sagheer, Naik Ali Raza and Naik Abdul Sattar, while the two local residents injured in the blast were identified as Rafiullah and Siraj Ahmad. They were taken to Miranshah Hospital for treatment.

No militant group has claimed responsibility for the blast.

The incidents of violence and attacks on security forces have increased in North Waziristan since the return of the temporarily displaced persons. Recently the people of North Waziristan had staged a sit-in in protest against increasing incidents of target killings in the tribal district.
