BANNU, 26 November: One person was killed and three others injured when a remote controlled bomb went off near the convoy of federal minister and JUI-F’s senior leader Akram Khan Durrani in Narmi Khel area here on Thursday evening, police said. However, Akram Durrani remained unhurt in the attack.
According to police, Mr. Durrani, who is also a former chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) was returning from a public meeting when his convoy was hit by the remote control bomb.
“The bomb hit an ambulance in Mr. Durrani’s convoy,” said an official, adding the person killed had been identified as Ihsan, an OT technician in DHQ Bannu. The injured persons have been rushed to hospital. The injured persons are also employees of the district hospital.
Soon after the incident, law enforcement agencies’ personnel cordoned off the area and started search operation in the area.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif condemned the attack and express grief over the loss of human life.
JUI-F chief Maulana Fazal ur Rahman called Akram Durrani and inquired about his health.
