SWABI: One person died while three others were injured when the Awami National Party (ANP) activists allegedly opened fire on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) camp outside a polling station in Swabi on Wednesday.
Police said the incident happened in the morning outside Banzara polling station in Karnal Sher Khan Killi. The injured were taken to District Headquarters Hospital Mardan.
The slain PTI worker was identified as Shahzaib, while the injured included Muktair, Saleem and Shahzad. The polling station comes under the jurisdiction of PK-47 constituency where the PTI leader Shahram Khan Tarakai is facing ANP candidate Ameer Rehman and PML-N candidate Ijaz Akram Bacha.
After the firing incident, the polling process at Banzara polling station was stopped and a huge contingent of police arrived there.
In Lakki Marwat, polling process was stopped after clash between supporters of two parties outside GPS No.2 polling station for men in Landewa area.
Police have arrived in the area to control the situation.
