BUNER, 4 November: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government under the Insaf Food Security Programme has distributed wheat seed among over 14,000 farmers.

A ceremony in this connection was organised in Nawagai area on Tuesday which was attended by the Agriculture and Revenue departments’ officials and local government representatives.

District Agriculture Department Director Murad Ali said on the occasion of distribution of 50 kilograms seed among the farmers that the seed is not meant for eating as poison is mixed in it. He said the sale of the seed in the market will also be banned.

The farmers who received the seed said they are very happy after getting the free of cost seed.

“The provincial government has initiated a very good programme under which the farmers have received seed under a very easy process,” a farmer said.

Another farmer said this scheme will greatly benefit the farmers. He said the government should also provide free of cost fertilizers to farmers.

The KP government under the Insaf Food Security Programme has started distribution of wheat seed among the farmers having from one to three acres land. The programme was initiated last week and the provincial government has allocated Rs1 billon for this purpose.
