LOWER DIR, 25 March: The Culture Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday organised painting and calligraphy competitions in Lower Dir.

Besides students, people from different walks of life took part in the competitions and expressed their talent in painting and calligraphy. The organisers said the competitions were organised in Timergara as part of campaign to promote the local culture. They said under the three-month campaign music, poetry, Jirgas and other cultural programmes are being organised.

Those who showed good performance in the competitions were awarded certificates at the concluding ceremony.

Timergara Tehsil Nazim Muhammad Advocate told TNN on the occasion that it was a very positive activity.

“People have forgotten their old culture and traditions. Today’s event has revived the glory of our old culture. Such activities should be organised on a regular basis to spread the message of peace and love,” he said.
