PESHAWAR, 07 July: Pakistan won the three-match test series against Sri Lanka 2-1, claiming historic victory against third and final match by seven wickets at Pallekele today.

In reply to Sri Lanka’s 377 runs, Pakistan achieved the target at the loss of three wickets—thanks to 242 runs partnership between Younis Khan and Shan Masood. It was the biggest ever target Pakistan successfully chased besides the first test series victory against Sri Lanka since 2006.

Younis Khan and skipper Misbahul Haq scored unbeatable 171 and 59, respectively. Shan Masood, who made his first test century, was bowled out at 124. Ahmed Shahzad was out without scoring a single run, while Azhar Ali was out on five runs.

Sri Lanka scored 278 in the first inning while Pakistani team was bowled out at a total of 215. Sri Lanka made 313 in the second inning, setting a target of 377 runs. From Pakistani side, Yasir Shah got five wickets in the first inning while Imran Khan also claimed five wickets in the second inning. Younis Khan was declared man of the match while Yasir Shah won man of the series title.
