‘Pakhtuns will thrive forever if they remain steadfast to their culture’

BUNER: The Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Buner organised a Mushaira (poetic symposium) at the tourist resort Salmalang on the occasion of inauguration of a sanitation campaign in the area on Sunday.

Eminent Pushto poets Dr Abaseen Yousafzai, Bakhtzada Danish, Iqbal Shakir, Hanif Qais and other poets participated in the Mushaira. Abaseen Yousafzai, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said that Buner is a city of saints and it is a lovely and virtuous place that is why we can see aesthetic sense in the colourful poetry of the local poets.

Mr Yousafzai said Pakhtuns will thrive forever provided they remain loyal and steadfast to their rich culture and traditions. He complained that Deputy Commissioner Buner Zareeful Maani had assured that Baku Khan Baba Ziarat (shrine) will be constructed, but that did not happen.

The deputy commissioner, who also attended the event, announced later that construction work on the shrine will be commenced soon.

Besides local people, a large number of tourists also attended the Mushaira and appreciated the beautiful poetry of the participating poets.

Aman Khan, coordinator of Zawan Buner, a literary organisation, said that such events will also be organised in Mabanr and Shaheeda Sar areas where two-day art competitions will also be organised for the youth of the whole district.

At the conclusion of the event, the district administration officials gave shields to the participating poets.
