PESHAWAR: Pakistan defeated Australia by 66 runs in first match of the three-match T20 series in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.

Pakistan after sent to bat first scored 155 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Babar Azam was the pick of batsmen for Pakistan as he remained unbeaten on 68, while Mohammad Hafeez scored 39. For Australia, Stanlake and Tye got three wickets each, while Zampa and Short got one wicket apiece.

Australia were all out on 89 in 17th over due to brilliant bowling by Pakistan bowlers. Nathan Coulter-Nile top scored with 34 runs.

Comeback boy Imad Wasim got three wickets, Faheem Ashraf and Shaheen Shah Afridi got two wickets each and Hasan Ali and Shadab Khan got one wicket apiece. Imad was declared player of the match due to his sensational bowling.

It was biggest victory by Pakistan in T20s against Australia.

Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed praised his team’s bowling effort for winning the match. Australian captain Aeron Finch admitted that it was not a good performance by his team. He praised variety in the Pakistani bowling attack.

The second T20 will be played in Dubai tomorrow (Friday)
