PESHAWAR, 17 October: England fell 25 runs short of a dramatic victory in the first Test against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi due to fading light on Saturday.

Pakistan were all out on just 173 runs in the second innings and gave England target of 99 runs. Leg-spinner Adil Rashid took a five wicket haul to trigger Pakistan’s collapse.

England were 74/4 after 11 overs when umpires stopped the play eight overs earlier due to bad light and the match was drawn.

England captain Alistair Cook was declared man of the match for his brilliant knock of 263 runs in the first innings.

The second match of the three-match series will be played Dubai from 22 October and the final Test will be played in Sharjah from 1 November.
