PESHAWAR, 8 October: Pakistan has rejected the reservations of the United States on the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The US Defence Secretary James Mattis had told a Senate committee that CPEC passes through some disputed areas which renders the One Road, One Belt project controversial and the US will not support this project.

The Foreign Office spokesman Nafees Zakaria said in response to the statement of Mattis that the One Belt, One Road project guarantees development and prosperity of the region and ensures connectivity. He said the international community instead of showing reservations on this project should take notice of grave human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir and resolve the dispute according to the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.

India has also raised objections over CPEC has it passes through Azad Kashmir.
