PESHAWAR, 21 June: Pakistan has defeated Sri Lankan cricket team in the first test match played in Galle International Stadium—first victory against Sri Lanka in nine years—taking 1-0 lead in the three-match test series.
The first day play was washed out by the bad weather. On the second day Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl. Sri Lanka scored 300 runs in first inning while Pakistan made 417 runs in its first inning. Asad Shafiq scored 131 runs and Sarfaraz Ahmed 96 in the first inning
Sri Lankan team could not perform well in the second inning and all the team was bowled out scoring 296 runs, setting a target of 90 runs to win the match which Pakistan achieved without the loss of any wicket. Yasir Shah played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s win by bowling out seven players in the second inning.
