PESHAWAR: District Police Officer (DPO) Pakpattan Rizwan Gondal has been reportedly transferred after he intercepted Khawar Maneka, former husband of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi, for not stopping at a check post.
On the complaint of Kkawar Maneka, Rizwan Gondal has been ordered to immediately report to the Lahore Central Police Office.
Media reports said police personnel tried to stop Khawar Maneka at a checkpoint around 1:00am on 23 August, but he didn’t stop and sped away. The police personnel chased Mr Maneka’s vehicle and managed to intercept him.
Mr Maneka allegedly misbehaved with the police when they stopped him. Subsequently, the Punjab government summoned Mr Gondal on Friday and also asked him to go to Pakpattan to seek an apology from Khawar. But the DPO refused to apologise. He was then transferred, reportedly for refusing to seek an apology from Mr Maneka.
However, Punjab Police issued a press release on Monday, which said the police chief had transferred Mr Gondal over misconduct.
