KARACHI: Police on Friday declared murder of a young driver, a resident of Parachinar, in the Gulshan-i-Iqbal area was allegedly an act of ‘honour’ killing.

The police said that Irshad Husain, a driver by profession, was shot dead on Thursday evening by armed pillion riders in Block-10 of Gulshan-i-Iqbal near Hakeem Saeed Park .

Superintendent of Police (SP), Gulshan-e-Iqbal,  Ghulam Murtaza Bhutto told reporters that the deceased had eloped an already married woman from his native Parachinar a few years back and came to Karachi.

He said that the woman had already been killed by her uncle in Parachinar, whereas, Husain was being pursued by the family to redeem their honour.

Police have registered a murder case on the complaint of the deceased driver’s brother, who has nominated the woman’s father, uncle and cousin in the case. Efforts are underway to arrest all the accused.
