PESHAWAR, 12 May: Contaminated water has confronted the dwellers of Parachinar, the headquarters of Kurram Agency, with a number of diseases.

Talking to TNN, the dwellers of Parachinar said the pipes used for water supply are rusted besides they pass through the sewerage lines. This is why the doctors say that hepatitis, diarrhea and typhoid are rampant in Kurram Agency.

The dwellers of the tribal agency added that they have contacted the local administration time and again but to no avail, leaving the residents with no other option but to drink unhygienic water.

They demanded the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor and the political agent concerned to install water filtration plant in Parachinar. “In Parachinar provision of potable water is a big public issue. We are supplied contaminated water passing through rusted pipes. Government should ensure provision of potable water to us,” they said.
