SWAT, 2 August: The paramedical staff of Saidu Sharif Hospital in Swat on Monday staged protest demonstration against the attitude of policemen and demanded protection of the hospital’s staff.

The protesting paramedics gathered in front of Mingora Press Club building and chanted slogans against the police. The Paramedical Association president Miangul Aleem said while addressing the protesters that few days ago a patient and his friends tortured paramedics at the hospital and also lodged a case against them after which the police arrested one member of the paramedical staff. He said policemen were present on the scene but they did not come to the rescue of the paramedics.

Miangul demanded the government to provide security to paramedics and take strict action against people involved in torturing them. He said the paramedics will hold strike in the hospital if their demands were not met.
