PESHAWAR, 08 December: Fata parliamentarians and other leaders of mainstream political parties have assured the protesting teachers of tribal areas of their full support.
The government schools’ teachers of the tribal areas have started a sit-in in front of Parliament House in Islamabad demanding service structure and scale promotion.
“Almost all the Fata MNAs and Senators visited our camp and assured us of their support. The opposition leader Syed Khursheed Shah alongwith other leaders of PPP also visited our sit-in and assured us that he would take up the issue on the Assembly floor,” a spokesman of the teachers’ association told TNN on phone.
He further added that they also held initial round of negotiations with the federal Safron Minister. “The Safron minister requested us to postpone the protest for a few days as Afghan President Ashraf Ghani is expected to come tomorrow (Wednesday) but we categorically told him that we will not end our protest till the acceptance of our demands,” he maintained.
It merits a mention here that the all Fata teachers have been demanding scale promotion and service structure on the pattern of the provincial school teachers. They boycotted classes as protest for one week and then moved to the federal capital for the second phase of their protest.
