TORKHAM, 20 January: The condition of visa and passport for the cleaners travelling to Pakistan via Torkham border of Khyber Agency with Afghan transporters has been imposed again.
The border officials said the drivers have been exempted from the condition of passport and visa, but the cleaners don’t have any exemption. The condition was imposed one month ago, but it was relaxed after talks between the Pakistani and Afghan officials. However, the condition was imposed on cleaners once again on Thursday.
Hundreds of vehicles have stopped at the Torkham border with re-imposition of the visa and passport condition on cleaners and the transporters have halted trade in protest against the decision.
