PESHAWAR, August 29: The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine at the Hayatabad Medical Complex has been out of order for the last two and a half years.

About 80 patients have to do their tests in private laboratories on a daily basis. Patients at the hospital told TNN that the private laboratories charge them exorbitantly for the tests.

Meanwhile, the computed tomography (CT) scan machine at the health facility is also of very old model and often remains out of order.

Patients are facing a host of problems due to these issues. An attendant of a patient told TNN, “Most of underprivileged people like us visit HMC because we cannot afford private and expensive hospitals. We appeal the government to solve problems at the HMC because we cannot pay high fees to private laboratories.”

When TNN contacted the chief executive of the hospital, he refused to comment on the issues.
