GHALLANAI, 14 October: The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) ameer Sirajul Haq has said peace cannot be established in FATA till provision of basic facilities of life to the tribal people.

Addressing tribal elders during his visit to Haleemzai tehsil of Mohmand Agency on Tuesday, the JI chief said the people of tribal areas had been deprived from basic facilities like education, clean drinking water and healthcare despite safeguarding the frontiers of the country for the last 68 years. He said the educated tribal youth are also wandering for jobs.

“There is no facility of college education for FATA students. There is not even a single high school in the large area of Anbar. Doctors and medicines are not available at local hospitals,” Siraj said.

He said the JI will soon call an all parties conference for reforms in FATA. He also demanded compensation package for collateral damages sustained during military operations in the tribal areas.
