‘Peace Committee members’ attacked PTM for chanting against Pak Army

RAWALPINDI: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor on Monday said that the members of the peace committee attacked Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) activists for raising slogans against Pakistan Army.

Addressing a press conference here, DG ISPR said that the army high ups met with Manzoor Pashteen and Mohsin Dawar, who shared their concerns regarding the killing slain Naqeebullah Mehsud, missing persons and border check-post issues. He said that army officials assured them of resolving the issues. “Then a social media campaign began against the army and a hate made outside began to come into Pakistan,” he said while reffering to PTM propaganda against the armed forces.

On Saturday, dozens of PTM supporters were injured and at least three were killed after people of ‘peace committee’ attacked on PTM leader Ali Wazir for chanting slogans against the army.

DG ISPR also said that India has carried out 1,077 ceasefire violations since the start of 2018 to date. He added that Pakistan’s desire for peace should not be mistaken for weakness, as he briefed media on ceasefire violations by India.
