PESHAWAR: Peshawar Police has issued a threat alert to the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman.

Media reports said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Peshawar has sent a letter to the JUI-F chief to remain vigilant and not to visit Peshawar. He has been advised to stay away from public meetings.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman had visited Peshawar on Friday after which he was informed about the threat. The Maulana hasn’t said anything about the security threat yet.

The security threat alert for Fazlur Rehman has been issued a day after Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami (JUI-F) chief Maulana Samiul Haq was assassinated in Rawalpindi. Samiul Haq was attacked with knives inside his house which left him critically injured and he socumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
