PESHAWAR, 20 October: Two Chinese cricketers have been inducted in the Peshawar Zalmi squad for the third edition of the lucrative Pakistan Super League (PSL).
A ceremony was held at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Islamabad which was attended by former Ambassador of China to Pakistan Chun Xiang Zhang, China’s cricket team coaches Rashid Khan and Yi Tian, Chinese cricketers Jian Li and Yufie Zhang and owner of Peshawar Zalmi franchise Javed Afridi.
Former Chinese Ambassador Chun Xiang Zhang expressed confidence that this initiative will promote cricket in China.
Javed Afridi said on the occasion that China and Pakistan share partnership in different sectors including infrastructure, scientific research, industry, technology and sports.
He said that the exchange of cultural and sport activities is essential for reinforcing the bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries. He added that Peshawar Zalmi will also assist China in mentoring cricketers to help them achieve international recognition.
The Peshawar Zalmi coaching team will also travel to China for a seminar to kick off the collaboration and hold coaching programs to groom young talent.
