Arrest main accused in Sherifan bibi case or face music

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has given three weeks to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police to arrest main accused in the Sharifan Bibi case who was allegedly paraded naked in the streets of her village in Dera Ismail Khan for her brother’s alleged crime.

A two-member bench of the PHC comprising Chief Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Qalandar Ali Khan heard the case on Thursday. The court expressed annoyance over delay in the arrest of the main accused in the case. It asked police to expedite efforts to ensure arrest of the accused and adjourned the hearing till 22 February.

Earlier, police had stated in a report that eight out of the nine accused had been arrested in the case.
